Party Night is a free party game for the TV and your phone, made by Hollowmere Games. This page explains what the game handles, where, and for how long. The short version: no accounts, no tracking, and everything is deleted when the game room ends.
What we collect
- A nickname you choose when you join. Please do not use your real full name.
- A random avatar the game assigns to you.
- Drawings and short text answers you submit during games, so they can be shown to the other players.
- The room code of the game you are in.
- Your connection IP address, used only to limit abusive traffic. It is kept in memory for the life of the room, and rate-limit counters keep it for up to ten minutes after your last connection.
- A random device id your phone keeps in local storage and sends when you join. If the host removes you, the room uses it to stop you rejoining. It is the same for every room you join, is not linked to your phone's hardware, and is kept in memory for the life of the room.
We do not collect accounts, email addresses, passwords, advertising identifiers or location. We use no analytics and no third party SDKs, and the game sets no cookies.
Storage on your device
Your phone's browser keeps your nickname, the last room code, a player token for each room so you can rejoin after a dropped connection, and the random device id described above, all in local storage. The TV app keeps the room code and a host key so it can reopen the same room after a dropped connection. You can clear all of them any time by clearing the browser or app storage.
Where it is processed
The game runs on a server in Amazon Web Services Sydney, Australia (region ap-southeast-2), operated by Hollowmere Games. Your phone and the TV both connect to that server so they can play together.
How long we keep it
Nicknames, avatars, drawings, answers, device ids and IP addresses live only in the server's memory while a room is open. They are deleted when the room closes, which happens when the host ends it, when the TV disconnects and does not return, or after about three hours of inactivity. The rate-limit counters hold IP addresses only, and forget each one within ten minutes. There is no database and nothing is written to disk. Standard server logs record operational events such as start-ups and errors, and are kept briefly.
Children
Party Night is made for families. We collect no personal data beyond a nickname, and we ask that nicknames are not real full names. Because nothing is kept after a room closes, no profile of any player, child or adult, is ever built.
The TV app
The TV app opens a connection to partynight.hs1.nz and nowhere else. It does not access your TV accounts, microphone, camera or viewing data.
Security
Connections between your devices and our server are encrypted with TLS. Because there are no accounts and no stored user data, there is no account database that could be breached.
Your rights and contact
Since we hold no data that identifies you after a room closes, there is normally nothing to access or delete. If you have a question, a concern, or want something removed sooner, contact Hollowmere Games at alexlberts@gmail.com. You can also leave a room or clear your browser storage at any time.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the game handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
